The California Department of Education reports that students enrolled in K-8 schools demonstrate higher self-esteem and are more likely to have overall academic, emotional and social success in school. At Leonardo da Vinci (LdV) the “internal community of accountability” that develops among teachers, parents, and students promotes a culture of caring and rigor marked by hard work, high aspirations, and an expectation that all will succeed.
Students at LdV benefit from teachers who are 100% credentialed, highly qualified, encouraging and accessible. They enjoy a curriculum that’s varied and challenging. They find opportunities in a multitude of activities including art, music, science, field trips, assemblies, hands-on experiences and athletics.
Experts agree the involvement of parents is the key to the student’s success. Parent involvement is an essential component of our program. Parents commit to supporting the education of their child by volunteering a minimum of 40 hours per year.
Ldv eK-8 School is an Open Enrollment School. Openings in Kindergarten are filled through the Sacramento City Unified School District Open Enrollment process. The school district sets a date when parents must register students online through the district website (www.scusd.edu). (There is currently no in-person assistance at this time for enrollment). Fourth grade openings are also filled by this same process.

Should we have openings at other grade levels, they will be filled by on-site waiting lists. LDV on-site waiting lists are for EK and grades 1-3 , and 5-8. Participation in a visitation day is required to be placed on the waiting list. Waiting list applications were available at our visitations which are now complete for 2021-2022.
Our school curriculum and methods of teaching are unique, in addition to participating in the district Open Enrollment process, Leonardo da Vinci has criteria that needs to be met to be included in the district lottery. The first step is to participate in a school visitation.
Come and learn more about Leonardo da Vinci’s eK-8 program and how it can benefit your student. No reservation is required, but we ask that you arrive on time and expect to spend two hours on campus. At the conclusion of the visitation, there is a question/answer session. Visitations are for adults only. In order to lessen the disruption to our classrooms, we ask that you do not bring children under age 10 (6th grade). Middle school visitations do include the student who will be applying. Incoming students are expected to have excellent attendance, positive behavior, and a strong academic history – a current report card may be requested. Applicants for 7th grade should bring a portfolio with current attendance, grades, behavior, and a teacher recommendation.
For Open Enrollment, once district registration AND the LdV criteria are met, the child can be entered into the lottery. Students whose parent or guardian did not attend an Open Enrollment visitation will be disqualified. Families will be notified by the district when and where the child is placed on the list for Open Enrollment (grades K and 4).
Please note that although siblings have priority in lottery placement, participation in the district Open Enrollment process is required for attending LdV. Sibling priority is given after one year at LdV.
Enrollment at LDV is not complete until registration occurs and a mandatory meeting has been attended. Specific dates and times will be communicated for registration and the mandatory meeting.
Visitations are required for lottery applications for the 2021-2022 school year to be considered for acceptance. (which are now complete)–(below is informational only as meetings/visitations will be conducted remotely).
