For LdV current Transitional Kindergarten students- the students will move into kindergarten (no additional action is required). For LdV siblings, families MUST to complete the Open Enrollment Lottery form for tK-8th grade AND complete the registration with the district enrollment center.

We will discuss the enrollment, lottery, and waiting list process at the presentation.

Enrollment: At this time, every class in the school is full and we have a waiting list. If you are interested in filling out a waitlist for the 2022-2023 school year, please email donna-roots@scusd.edu.

While it may seem challenging to join the school, we have 886 students and over 400 families. Please join us! Come to our meeting, learn about LdV, and find out how to enroll your child. We hope that if our school philosophy is aligned with your interest areas for your child’s eK-8th grade education- you will start the process to connect with this amazing school community.

Transitional Kinder Admission Process

Post
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a stepping stone between preschool and kindergarten. The optional program includes appropriate curriculum opportunities for language development, foundations of mathematics, and social-emotional development through dramatic play, small group instruction, and intentional teaching through hands-on activities to achieve readiness for traditional kindergarten.

Assembly Bill 130, signed by Governor Newsom in July 2021, expands TK programs to make it available to all 4-year-olds by 2025-2026. The new program will be gradually phased in expanding the existing TK classrooms until it covers all 4-year-olds in the state.

For the 2022-2023 school year, LdV will a half day programs. To qualify for 2022-2023 TK enrollment, students must be 5 between September 2, 2022 and February 2, 2023.  Families must attend one of our Open Enrollment meetings to be eligible for our tK lottery.

  • The Half Day Transitional Kindergarten programs have a developmental and age appropriate curriculum that gives early learners time to acquire school readiness, academic, social, and emotional skills needed for kindergarten and beyond. The curriculum model is based upon the California Early Learning Foundations, blending play based learning opportunities in the program and introducing State Common Core Standards in preparation for the following years in school. The program extends for 200 minutes each day. The class sizes are 24 students plus a teacher and instructional aide.

For more information or questions about the Half-Day programs, please email tk@scusd.edu.

  • Parents can submit registration forms either online or by downloading the TK Registration packet

To register, families will need to provide photo identification, address verification, proof of birth documentation, and the child’s immunization record. See the full list of required enrollment documentation
